For over 90 years, Hebert Candies has manufactured premium chocolates in central Massachusetts. According to Hebert family history, in 1917, young Frederick Hebert purchased a copper kettle, knife, thermometer, table, marble slab and stove for eleven dollars. These tools were to be the basis of Mr. Hebert's confectionery empire. For many years, Mr. Hebert manufactured caramels and chocolates and sold them through small neighborhood stores in central Massachusetts. By 1946, Mr. Hebert was in need of more room for his manufacturing operations, and so he purchased a Tudor style stone mansion on Route 20 in Shrewsbury. The building became known as the "Candy Mansion" and was the first roadside retail confectionary operation in the United States.

Although our company is no longer owned by the Hebert family, there are many long-time employees here who worked for the Heberts prior to the sale of the company. We strive to ensure that the candy we make is the same delicious, small batch, high quality product, using the recipes and traditions that were developed by Frederick Hebert so many years ago.
