Here is an interesting idea…PunkyStyle.com is teaming up with The Nostalgia Exchange to host, what they are billing as, Worcester’s Largest Clothing Swap on May 30th, 11:00am-4:00pm in the Canal District. Swappers will bring a bag of clothes, shoes or other accessories and then “swap” for other items. There is no cash exchanged. If you don’t bring clothes, you can buy a reusable bag and fill it up for $10 with proceeds going to charity. Canal District retailers and restaurants will be open with some offering great discounts and specials that day. Any clothes left at the end of the day will be donated to local charity. If nothing else, sounds like a great day to walk in the Canal District, have nice lunch and enjoy the sites!
Thanksgiving is always a very popular holiday for the Bars and Restaurants of Worcester; well, more specifically the night before and the night after. Because thousands of families and college students are returning home for the holidays to see family and friends that they don’t get to see that often. Some of the popular spots to go to if you want to see some familiar faces (or to avoid if you don’t want to see anyone) are Boynton, Blackstone Tap, and Banner Bar and Grille.
If you like a lot of people in the city and love Canal District, then you should attend the 1st Annual Turkey Crawl. It is Wednesday November, 26th with a food drive starting at 5pm and the Crawl starting at 6. This is the perfect opportunity to try some of the District’s restaurants and bars while supporting the Worcester County Food Band with a turkey or cash donation. Stop at the drive at 5 and pick up your crawl path.
Hope you have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!
Well, you may not get wet, but you will be entertained at the Blackstone CanalFest on November 1st.
Canalfest ‘08 will take the form of a classic street festival, featuring vendors of all sorts; horse-drawn wagon tours of the neighborhood; food concessions from neighborhood restaurants; musicians, dancers and street performers; special children’s activities; and a huge cash raffle. It will also include the popular 75 foot, water-filled replica of the Blackstone Canal itself, complete with kayak rides and waterfront table seating.
The festival will run from 11 am to 5 pm., and several thousand visitors are expected.
This is the perfect excuse to get out and enjoy the city!
