The Worcester Art Museum hosts it’s monthly event, Third Thursday, with an absinthe tasting. This event was the first Third Thursday in recent memory to have to refuse people entry because it was packed to capacity. A great evening with a very active group of attendees, hosted by the effervescent Jerome Cloche who, decked out in period French garbs, walked 200 attendees through the history of the recently legalized Absinthe accompanied by a tasting.
Anyone that has been following WorcesterScene.com’s posts will know that we are fans of the Worcester Art Museum’s Third Thursday series. This year’s line-up is no exception as each month has brought some great aspects together: art, tastings (from wine to whiskey, and from coffee to chocolates), and local musicians. It is the perfect opportunity to get out into an environment rich in culture and meet some interesting new people! This month will certainly not be a month to miss. November’s Third Thursday has Jerome Cloche as the invited guest to share his fascination of absinthe, recently legalized for consumption in the United States. Absinthe has inspired artists and writers during the Belle Époque era, including Vincent van Gogh, Édouard Manet, Paul Verlaine, Ernest Hemingway, Oscar Wilde, and Mark Twain. Guests will also tour artwork from the Belle Époque and enjoy a poetry reading. This is a 21+ event. Cost is free to members, $10 for nonmembers.
Thursday, November 19, 5:30pm – 8pm

The Worcester Art Museum has been having their Third Thursday events for many years and while hundreds of people have attended, there are still some that may not have yet… it is easy to make an excuse not to go, but tonight is the last time that you will be able to go before Summer truly kicks in.
Tonight’s Third Thursday is held in both the Cafe and outdoor courtyard to truly enjoy the weather from 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM to enjoy the music of Jubilee Gardens. Want to stay in the cool? Enjoy a tour of the exhibition Rona Pondick: The Metamorphosis of an Object.
