WorcesterScene.com has always been a big fan of Tush: A Denim Boutique, one of the first stores of it’s kind to come to Worcester. It was announced today that Tush is leaving the hands of Deb and Shannon after being sold to Leigha Hervey (clothing designer) who will continue the dedication to designer fashions—and add her own flare to the boutique, such as her own designs and on-site custom alterations!
Look for great things to come from Tush over the next few months while Leigha’s transition takes place!
A note from Deb Covino:
Dear Tush Shoppers,
I would like to take this opportunity to announce the sale of Tush to Leigha Hervey. Leigha is a young and talented clothing designer, who plans to continue to run Tush as a designer denim boutique. Leigha also plans to incorporate some of her own designs into the store (which are stunning!), as well as to offer onsite custom alterations (yeah!). She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the store, and I am very confident in her ability to successfully operate it. I truly foresee a great future for Tush (and all of us who love to shop there!).
I’d like to thank all of you for your support and patronage over the past two years. Both Shannon and I put our heart and soul into the opening of Tush, and we leave it with a lot of great memories and a lot of pride. Though there is always sadness in leaving, it’s gratifying to know that Tush will continue to run, and hopefully grow, under Leigha’s ownership. We will be doing our best to help Leigha over the next several months in any way that we can, and look optimistically forward to the future.
I will still be available by email at Deb@tushdenim.com for a fair amount of time, if you have any comments or concerns that I can assist you with.
I genuinely hope that you continue to show Tush the support that you have over the past two years, and again, I thank you all very much.Sincerely,
Deb Covino

Fling Into Spring Worcester-Style
Contest Provides One Lucky Winner and Guest a Chance to Enjoy a Complementary Night Out in Worcester
The Fling Into Spring contest has expanded WorcesterScene.com’s primary purpose of acting as a Worcester resource into a highly contested chance for one lucky winner to experience the city. Luke M. Vaillancourt, the site’s founder, has personally selected some of Worcester’s finest establishments to make April 30th a night to remember. Starting March 1st through March 31st visitors can sign-up for their chance to win:
- Transportation for 2 for the evening
- Dinner for 2 compliments of Grille 57 Steakhouse
- A gift card for Coffee and Dessert provided by Allgos: Sweets and Drinks
- A personal hair cut/style at Rinse Hair Lounge
- A $100 gift card to Tush: A Denim Boutique
- Two tickets to the Worcester Historical Museum
- A free Worcester pronounciation T-Shirt provided by Worcester Historical Museum
- A Free Salsa Session (6-weeks) for one provided by Salsa Storm
- Night’s accommodations provided by Crowne Plaza Worcester
Vaillancourt says, “These businesses have come together to provide a night of entertainment that the winner and guest will be certain to remember.” He adds, “It is tremendous to see the amount of growth that has happened in the city—especially in today’s economy. Given these consumer challenges, businesses are forced to be more creative to developing experiences geared to retain and grow their customer base.”
While WorcesterScene.com has been providing a web presence for Worcester area businesses, large and small, Vaillancourt is thinking of long-term strategies for future growth. He explains, “The site’s attendance has doubled each month since it’s launch. I’ve found that while some visitors have dubbed the site the ‘yellow pages on steroids,’ WorcesterScene.com must continue to seek additional venues to engage its audience.” In December, WorcesterScene.com embraced a new mode to disseminate information to its 2,000 unique monthly visitors and 2,500 e-mail (SceneAlert) subscribers: monthly video segments featuring notable Worcester personalities. Domenic Mercurio (Mercury Media), Mark Piscillo (Victory Bar and Cigar), Laura Briere (Vision Advertising), and Christina Andrianopoulos (The Omega Group) partnered with WorcesterScene.com to create brief videos about topics that they hold dear to their heart—Wine, cigars, restaurants, and style.
Over the past year, WorcesterScene.com has proliferated into a daily resource that it’s visitors access from the web site, Facebook group, and on the go via their mobile device. With WorcesterScene.com’s popularity growing stronger each day, Vaillancourt thinks that the Fling Into Spring will be the start of the next chapter in WorcesterScene.com’s city presence. It is that time of year again, the Holiday’s are upon us and for the next few weeks it will be a fast and furious race to the Holiday finish line. Good thing the City of Worcester has so many ways to enjoy this magical time of year. Don’t let all the bad news you see on TV get you down…go out and shop in a City filled with great new shopping experiences just waiting to be discovered! Forget about fighting the crowds and traffic at the mall, Worcester (and the surrounding area) has some very unique shopping boutiques that would greatly appreciate your support.
First off, there is Tush, a very special denim boutique on Green Street. If you haven’t been there yet, you need to see this store. They carry all the brands today’s trendy shopper would want along with shoes and accessories to complete a new outfit. Next, Shrewsbury Street isn’t just about food anymore, check out Rio and Company for something with a more stylish European or sexy South American feel. And while you are on Shrewsbury Street go to Spoil’d where you will find a more relaxed yet still very stylish look.
If you are not looking for clothes, Worcester offers a wide variety of arts and crafts outlets to choose from. Of course, there is the Worcester Art Museum Gift Store. Here you’ll find items inspired by their collection and collections around the world. Next, The Worcester Center for Crafts on Sagamore Street has a variety of gifts and artwork on sale by their members. And finally, Vaillancourt Folk Art in Sutton is the leading creator of holiday collectibles in America. This magnificently decorated gallery is a unique shopping experience that will be enjoyed by the entire family.
Other specialty stores include Victory Cigar and The Owl Shop for cigars, Dzian and Davis Galleries for art, Neal Rosenblum for jewelery and so many more we can’t list them all.
No matter what you need this holiday season, Worcester has it so get out and enjoy our City, support our merchants and have fun!
