Celebrate your independence with some great events taking place in the city. The 2009 celebration will be at Cristoforo Columbo Park on Shrewsbury Street on Thursday July 2nd (rain date is Friday, July 3) Sunday, July 5th. Starting at 8:00pm the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra presents a family pops concert, including Sousa marches and fireworks. Conductor will be Alton Baggett and Jane Shivick will be the soloist. Bobbie Chase will be the announcer. Want fireworks? They are set to kick off at 9:30pm.

Why not enjoy them by sitting at one of your favorite outdoor eateries that offer al fresco dining?

NOTE: Fireworks have been postponed until SUNDAY, JULY 5th at 9:30pm…. The evening’s line up will still start at 6:00pm with kids activities, and 7:55 with the MA Symphony Orchestra.

A drive down Shrewsbury street and you will see some construction on many businesses creating comfortable outdoor seating. In the past, simply throwing a table with a couple chairs on the side walk would be all that was needed for “outdoor seating.” No more. Outdoor seating has really become popular in the city, try some of the newest outdoor seating (and we really mean that it is meant to be outdoor seating for comfort) at: Red Lantern, La Scala, or Flying Rhino. Of course, we anticipate many more restaurants to construct new outdoor seating as the heat begins to rise.
